Does it cost anything for our association to partner with JS Benefits Group?
No — there is no cost to the association to partner with JS Benefits Group. We are compensated directly by the insurance carriers, not by the association or its members. Your members pay only their health insurance premiums, and they typically pay less than they would shopping individually. The association gets a fully managed benefit program at no fee.
How small can a member organization be and still participate?
Plans are available for member organizations with as few as 2 eligible full-time employees — including the owner. This is critical for trade and professional associations where many members are small shops. Even a 2-person HVAC contractor or a 3-person law firm can access group health coverage through the association program at rates they would never find independently.
What if our members are in multiple states?
JS Benefits Group can design multi-state association programs. We are licensed in multiple states and work with carriers that offer national networks. For associations with members spread across PA, NJ, DE, MD, NY, and beyond, we design a program structure that accommodates the geographic diversity while still leveraging group purchasing power. How long does it take to launch an association benefits program?
From initial consultation to member-facing launch typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your membership. This includes program design, carrier selection and negotiation, member communication development, enrollment setup, and compliance review. JS Benefits Group handles all of this — your association staff involvement during launch is minimal.
Do our members have to participate, or is it voluntary?
The program is typically voluntary — members who want to participate enroll, and those who don’t are under no obligation. There is no minimum participation requirement to launch the program, though a higher participation rate generally leads to better group pricing. We design programs that make participation attractive enough that take-up rates stay strong year over year.
What happens at renewal — does our association have to renegotiate every year?
No. JS Benefits Group manages the annual renewal process for your entire association program. We proactively shop the market, negotiate with carriers, present options to the association and members, and coordinate the renewal transition. Your members get the benefit of an expert advocate at renewal — instead of facing a take-it-or-leave-it rate increase alone.
Can we brand the program with our association's name?
Yes. For Growth and Enterprise partnership levels, JS Benefits Group creates co-branded materials, enrollment communications, and member-facing resources that present the program under your association’s brand. The PHCC Health Plan is an example — it’s a JS Benefits Group program presented under the PHCC brand. Your members see it as an association benefit, which increases trust and take-up rates.
