In this day and age of competitiveness, you would want to offer the very best perks to your employees. Not only would you want to keep your employees satisfied and happy through these perks, but you would also want them to remain with you for the period to come.
Knowing the role that these perks have to play in keeping your employees satisfied, it is only justified that you go above and beyond to make sure that your employees are given the kind of perks that they are looking for.
The last thing you would want here is to offer useless perks to your employees, which aren’t of much use to them.
Here we look at some of the most common perks offered by employers, which are nothing but useless for the employee. Go through these perks and try to stray safe from them:
Unlimited Paid Time Off
We have never really understood the thought process that organizations go through while giving unlimited paid time off. Organizations like Netflix and Virgin give unlimited paid time off to employees, but the lack of a proper number leads to confusion.
Such a policy can lead to friction as well, if the paid application for leave of one employee is accepted, while yours is rejected. Such confusion can lead to a lot of different problems in the workplace, which can actually be averted through proper planning upfront.
Unmonitored Employee Wellness Programs
Employee wellness programs work well, only when you have regular training sessions, and monitor the progress that your employees make. Handing over a fitness watch or making your employees go to a fitness movie doesn’t qualify as a wellness program, and even if it does, we believe that it is completely useless.
Instead of an unmonitored wellness program, we would advise you to look after the progress your employees are making and track that progress for future results.
Ping Pong Tables and Other Activities
Companies are looking to attract young millennial employees to the mix, and are incorporating useless perks in the way. One such useless perk is the addition of extravagant activities such as rock climbing walls, DJ booths and ball pits within the office.
Now, we can’t come to terms with who in their right mind would like to climb some walls while at work. Dressed for the corporate life, employees would want bonuses, a corporate suit or fuel off the car, rather than a giant, smelly wall climbing activity within the workplace.
