Due to the pandemic and the resultant lockdown, more people are working from home in 2020 than ever before. To many employees, the work from home situation sounds like a good alternative to the office routine. It also allows them to maintain a decent work/life balance while maintaining their living standard in a manner that they would want to.

However, organizations are still adjusting to the idea of workers working from home and haven’t yet come to terms with it. There is still some contemplation on how to adjust to the new normal, and what kind of working plan should be created when things do go back to normalcy.

In this article we take a look at some corporate wellness ideas that managers can follow for their remote teams. These ideas carry their own benefits and can make management easier for all involved.

Create Virtual Social Spaces

Almost 20 percent of all employees working remotely struggle with isolation and other issues that come with working from home alone. Employees who have shifted to the work from home scenario for the first time in life tend to be the most vulnerable to this, as they have yet to come to terms with the situation.

At this point, organizations can jump in and create a remote social connection of sorts. The social connection should look to bridge gaps and should be focused on ensuring engagement and positive thinking even during the pandemic.

Ensure Remote Employees Have Relevant Tools

Most employees today aren’t sure how to work from home. Of course, there is something romantic about sitting at the beach and working 8 hours from there, but you cannot obviously do that on a consistent basis. For starters, you could develop a skin condition or some back problems. Employees still need an ergonomic solution to work from home, and this is where organizations should chip in.

Provide your staff with their office tools like their office chair, a convenient desk and other things that can make working from home easier.

Encourage Remote Employees to Switch Off

Some employers forget the personal familial boundaries of employees and do not give the space that is required. The notion is that the employee is available round the clock, since they have their work system available to them at all times. Employees should be allowed to switch off, even during office hours, during which time they shouldn’t be disturbed with notifications and pings.
