The COVID-19 pandemic has brought us a number of new things – travel bans, social distancing, home quarantines, lockdowns and much more. The world has come to a standstill and organizations are still thinking of ways to motivate their employees during and after the pandemic.
With vaccine rollouts around the world, normalcy seems to be on the path to resumption for most people. The entire COVID-19 predicament has severely devastated the corporate world in not only America, but all over the world, as employees and workers have been left fighting on their own.
If you are a corporate employer with no idea of how to guide your ship during the testing times of COVID-19, then this article is for you. In this article we mention a list of tips to improve employee performance during and post-COVID-19.
Provide Appropriate Infrastructure for Remote Work
Remote work is the new normal that has popped up over the globe during the last few months. While previously this was an option available to only a few, remote work has now become a necessary evil. Organizations that already had remote work platforms available adjusted easily to the process, while others without such platforms had to face a number of problems along the way.
In the United States alone, the number of employees working from home has more than doubled during the period from mid-May last year to mid-March of this year. More than 100 million workers are now working from home. What employers can do is provide all remote workers with appropriate hardware and software infrastructure to get their work done. Don’t expect employees to set sail by themselves. In fact, help them out wherever and whenever you can.
Establish Rules for Engagement
Many organizations feel that remote work has compromised engagement and there isn’t much interaction between staff members and employees today. The only viable solution to this conundrum is establishing rules of engagement across the board. These rules should set patterns for engagement. Some rules to be implemented here include having fixed meetings at fixed times and avoiding sitting in areas with family.
Acknowledge Employees’ Efforts
Perhaps the most important thing to do during this period is to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of your staff members. Genuine appreciation and acknowledgment goes a long way and will encourage your staff members to remain motivated and healthy during this pandemic. Monetary rewards, bonuses, appraisals and other forms of basic recognition can be used here as well.
